About CapHub

What makes CapHub different from other placement agents?

One of our founders has operated as an Independent Sponsor for the last twenty years and has developed unique relationships interested in backing Independent Sponsors. The rest of the team has spent decades working in PE and private credit where they backed Independent Sponsors. They know what it takes to push an Independent Sponsors deal through investment committee and we use this know-how to get your deal over the finish line.We focus exclusively on capital raising for Independent Sponsors. We don’t do any sell-side work like investment banks, and we don’t raise committed funds like traditional placement agents.

What is CapHub and why was it founded?

CapHub was founded by a veteran Independent Sponsor and two founders / managing partners of very well-established private equity and private credit firms who were backers of Independent Sponsor deals.

Capital Raising

How long does the capital raising process typically take?

We aim to secure indicative term sheets as soon as possible to help you show progress to the seller. While the timeline varies this typically takes three to six weeks on average. From there, our goal is for all parties to work in good faith towards closing.

What does the capital raising process look like once we engage?

We like to get involved as early as possible (and certainly pre-LOI). This way we can give you a read on the financing environment for a specific situation before you spend too much time and resources pursuing an asset. How does CapHub help Independent Sponsors raise capital?

We have a network of over 2,000 institutional investors who back Independent Sponsors, spanning family offices, aggregators and co-investors, private equity firms, junior capital investors, private credit lenders, banks, SBICs, and BDCs. We target the right subset for your deal and handle the full distribution process.

Fees & Engagement

How does CapHub think about Independent Sponsor economics,
including closing fees, carry, and management fees?

We are in continuous dialog with Independent Sponsors and capital providers and have a good understand of what market terms are. While each deal is different, in all cases CapHub focuses on driving competitive tension throughout the process to secure the best terms for our clients.

Will CapHub work alongside another placement agent on the same deal?

We will not work alongside another placement agent and find it most effective to manage the entire process.

How does CapHub charge for capital raising services?

We work on a pure success fee, nothing upfront. If the deal does not close, there is no charge. Our fee is capitalized into the transaction and generally falls in the range of 2% to 3% of third-party capital needed to finance the deal.

What is the difference between an operating partner and a river guide?

A river guide is a seasoned executive who helps with establishing seller credibility, due diligence, and board service post-closing. An operating partner takes a more active, often full-time role in driving value creation after close.

How does CapHub source operating partners and river guides?

We draw from two pools: senior executives we have worked with directly, and a group of executive search firms across telecom, media, and other verticals who can surface recently qualified candidates.

Do I pay CapHub when you connect me to accountants, lawyers, or other
service providers?

No. Channel partners pay us directly. The one exception is river guide placement: if we place a river guide and your deal closes, we charge a success fee.

What does CapHub mean by "intellectual capital"?

Everything beyond the capital raise. We connect you with operating partners, river guides, consultants, accountants, lawyers, and fractional executives who work specifically with Independent Sponsors. We are also building an expert network for industry-specific insight.

Does CapHub work with family offices?

Yes. We include them in the vast majority of our outreaches alongside other relevant investors.

Who is on the CapHub team?

Our transaction team consists of former private equity investors, private credit investors, investment bankers, and Independent Sponsors. Our president, Leslie Cedar, has served herself as a CEO and as an operating partner for both a traditional PE firm and an Independent Sponsor.
